Spell for Strength (Urban Style) by Christine Carr

A spell to draw resilience, confidence, and creative power from the energy of the city.

Materials

• A coin representing currency, exchange, flow of energy

• A key for access, unlocking potential, thresholds

• A small piece of metal. Can be a washer, bolt or metal wire, any piece of metal represent endurance and protection

  
  

• A small piece of paper with your name for clearly identifying yourself  

• A tea light, battery lit candle or the glow of a city light for illumination, clarity

  
  

Optional: Perform the spell near an open window, balcony, or patio or anywhere outside where you can hear the hum of traffic, voices, or footsteps, all urban sounds and the subtle rhythm of city life. Although in a city or busy suburb, often you can hear these sounds with the windows and doors closed.

Prepare and Ground Yourself

Time to ground yourself by standing or sitting quietly for a moment. Let the surrounding sounds settle and flow around you: Listen for the buzz of power lines, the whisper of passing tires, a shout carried on a breeze. Feel the city’s steady heartbeat beneath the hum.

Setting the Space

1. Lay your items on a table or surface, it can even be the ground if you happen to be sitting on stoop, curb or sidewalk or even sitting on a blanket in a playground or park.

2. Place the coin in the center, representing the city’s pulse , flow of energy and movement.

3. To the north, set the piece of metal: strength, structure, endurance.

4. To the east, place the key, opportunity, unlocking potential, momentum, access.

5. Slide your paper with your name beneath the coin to root yourself in the city’s energy.

6. Light your tea light or turn your attention to the nearest streetlamp, window glow, neon flicker or if you can see them in the city the stars up above.

Invocation

Speak (or whisper, or simply think these words):

“Steel and signal, wire and stone,

This city hums, its strength my own

In concrete calm and siren’s cry,

I stand unshaken,  I amplify”

Raising the Energy

• Hold the coin in your hand.

  Feel its weight, its history of passing from palm to palm; human effort, hope, survival.

  Imagine that current pouring into you as strength, resilience, confidence, and drive.

  
  

• Touch the key and say:

  
  

“All doors open, all paths clear. I claim the courage to persevere”

Seal and Close the Spell

Thank the glow outside your window or the flame or light before you. Tuck the coin and key together in a pocket, purse, or bag. Carry this bag or place it on your altar as a small urban charm for ongoing strength and forward movement.

*If you used a candle, allow it to burn safely until it extinguishes on its own.
