Tales of the Tuatha De Danann, Volume 1: New Translations of Irish Myths by Morgan Daimler

Book review by Heather Dewhurst

ree

A must have for anyone who is interested in Irish mythology!  Morgan Daimler has provided the reader with an in depth reference book, in which they have translated more accurately than previous authors, the Tales of Tuatha De Danann – and this is just volume 1 so we have more to look forward to.

I particularly liked that the author has deciphered the source texts by paragraph, so there are not long tracts to refer back to.  I am also excited that the author has included texts that have not been translated before.

Morgan Daimler makes it clear that Old Irish does not directly translate to English, so informs where their interpretation may have an effect the original deeper meanings within the story.  It is this honesty that makes this book so much more valuable than those that came before!
