Planetary Magic - Jupiter by Sue Perryman

The planet Jupiter is named after the Roman god of the same name. Jupiter was considered to be the king/ chief god of the Roman pantheon. Jupiter was the Roman equivalent of the Greek god Zeus and they shared many similar traits and characteristics. He is associated with justice, the sky, thunder, kingship, sovereignty, law, oaths and treaties. He was responsible for protecting the Roman state and its laws. Jupiter was also known as Jove and was venerated as Jupiter Optimus Maximus, the Best and Greatest.

The planet Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system and the fifth planet from the Sun. It has been known by ancient civilisations since before recorded history. It has 79 known moons, the largest being the 4 Galilean moons: Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto which were  first discovered by the Italian astronomer, physicist and engineer Galileo Galilei in 1610. Jupiter has a faint ring system surrounding it, mostly comprised of dust from its moons caused during impact by comets and asteriods. It is the 4th brightest object in our solar system after the Sun, Moon and Venus, and is one of five planets which can be seen by the naked eye from Earth.

In astrology Jupiter represents expansion, increase, good luck, good fortune, abundance, prosperity, wisdom, knowledge, travel, study, authority, law and justice. It rules the zodiac sign  Sagittarius.  Those born under the sign of Sagittarius are generally optimistic, energetic, open minded, extroverts, fun and  generous, they love travel, freedom and adventure and dislike clingy people or partners and being constrained.

Jupiter spell for justice

Work this spell on a Thursday

Be careful when working magic for justice, your opinion of what is right, may not actually be so and it may go the opposite way if you are not careful.

You will need:

A royal blue or purple candle

A candle holder

Matches/lighter

Burn sage or cedar incense or another you are drawn to use

Olive oil ( if you want to dress your candle)

Herbs and Crystals associated with Jupiter from the list above, or those you are drawn to use

Carve the symbol for Jupiter into your candle and dress it with the olive oil if you wish to do so. Place the candle in the holder and surround with your herbs and crystals.

Light the incense and candle.

Ground and centre. Gaze at the candle and think about the situation you need justice for.

When you are ready say:

'Justice be mine

Justice be mine

I call to you Jupiter lord divine

tip the scales of justice towards me

Jupiter lord hear my plea

Right the wrongs that have been done to me

as I will so mote it be!'

Let the candle burn down if it is safe to do so, don't leave it unattended. It is better to relight it another time when you can keep an eye on it.
