Book Review by Heather Dewhurst

A great addition to this series of Pantheon books. Rachel Roberts has presented a thorough base of information about the Romans, enabling the reader to decide whether they wish to explore this subject in more depth.
Starting with the history of Rome, the archaeological, literary and mythological evidence, the author describes the lives, practices and beliefs of ancient Roman people.
The deities are clearly presented, with their attributes, the ways they were venerated, by the people as well as the elite.
Part three dives into how this information can influence our practices today, adapting to our lives and defining how these divinities can be of
importance now.
Much appreciated is the glossary of terms, the interesting map of ancient Rome, together with ample end notes and bibliography to allow for further study.
