There are times when we want someone to leave us alone! We don’t wish them harm but need to maintain our (or a loved ones) safety and personal space. Having done all the mundane things, we can utilise our magic to ensure this happens.
Looking on the internet, and a few of my books (it is surprising how many authors don’t cover the subjects of binding/hexes/curses!), I realised that there are many ways of performing a binding spell, ranging from simple to ceremonial ritual. Personally, I prefer simple, less to remember and to go awry!
I have included a few here, which are my favourites, the first is from Rachel’s Spells and Charms book, but do check out your own books, as well as the internet, if you feel drawn to something more ritualistic.
A cord binding knot spell
You will need:
A piece of cord or string
Cast a circle, using cord or string, think of what you want to bind. Say in a strong voice:
The first knot binds in my intent.
The second knot binds ill wishes.
The third knot binds it all together.
These knots shall hold the spell,
Until these knots are all undone.
As you speak a line, tie one knot. The first knot should be at one end, the second in the middle. The final knot should be placed at the other end. As you tie the knots, visualise what you are binding being stopped from doing harm. Once the knots are tied, see the spell being continued until the knots are untied.

Freezer Binding Spell
Items needed -
Paper
Pen
Black thread or string
Small jar or watertight container
This freezer binding spell is done to keep someone away from you. This spell is best done during the full moon and needs to be renewed every month or if the person bothers you again.
Begin by writing the name of the person you wish to prevent from harming you on a piece of paper. Gaze at the paper and visualize the face of the person, see their face vividly imprinted on the paper. Then fold the paper three times away from you. Tie the paper up with the black thread or string. Put it into the small watertight container. Fill the container with water and place it in the freezer and say the below:
Stay there and freeze as long as I please!
Binding Spell for Protection
Items Needed -
Black cord
Photo of the person
This spell is used to protect someone from hurting others and themselves.
First sit and cast your circle with the cord and photo in the centre. Explain to the universe what you are going to do and ask if it is the right thing. Think about how the person is hurting others and let the anger build up. Then say the below:
(Person’s name) I bind you from hurting others!
Then tie a knot tightly in the cord. Repeat the process three times or as many times you feel necessary, in multiples of three. When you’re done say the below:
I bind you (person’s name)
Hide the cord and photo in a safe place where the knots won’t come undone.
