Sunshine Motivation Balm by Sue Perryman

We all have those days when we just don’t feel motivated enough to do anything, for me it usually occurs when the temperature outside drops and the sky is grey and overcast -we have had lots of days like that this Spring in the UK. There is nothing like a sunny day to give me a boost of energy, and with the Summer Solstice this month, what better time to harness the energy of the Sun at its peak for whenever a boost of motivation is needed. I decided to make a scented balm using herbs that are associated with the Sun, but if you don’t have any wax you could skip that part and make your own Sunshine oil instead.

You will need:

30 g Carrier oil ( Olive, Sunflower, Almond, Coconut, Jojoba)

3g beeswax pellets or a vegan substitute

A total of 5 drops of essential oils associated with the Sun or those you are drawn to use. ( I used Frankincense and Sweet Orange*)

A small clean jar

A small saucepan and heat proof bowl that can sit on the rim of the saucepan.

*Caution, some essential oils, including sweet orange are phototoxic, meaning they can cause burns or blisters on your skin if you wear them in direct sunlight and/or UV light.

Pour some water into the bottom of the saucepan and sit the heatproof bowl on the rim, bring to a simmer and add the carrier oil and wax pellets and continue to simmer on a low heat until the wax melts.

Once melted remove the bowl and place on a breadboard or other heat proof stand and leave to cool for a few minutes. Add your essential oils and swirl the bowl around to mix. Pour into your jar, pop the lid on and label it.

Use in the areas you would spray perfume whenever you need a boost of motivation.
