Chakras by StormloverWolf

Hello friends, welcome to October. For the next several months I will be telling you about the Chakras, the energy centres of all bodies, that greatly affect us in many ways. So, sit back, grab a beverage (perhaps a cup of tea or coffee as our weather is beginning to change to cooler temperatures), and let's chat about these chakras, shall we?

Chakras are centres of energy, located on the midline of the body, from the base of our spines to the top of our heads. There are nine of them, the 7 basic ones which I will tell you about over the next few months and then two more that I learned about being the Earth Star Chakra and the Soul Star Chakra through my studying at Kitchen Witch school over the last 6 years. Some people believe in our having many, many more than just these chakras but for our Blog we will work with these. The chakras located on the lower part of our body are our instinctual side, the highest ones our mental side as you will see.

The chakras can have various levels of activity. When they're “open”, they're considered operative in a normal fashion.

Ideally, all chakras would contribute to our being. Our instincts would work together with our feelings and thinking. However, this is usually not the case. Some chakras are not open enough (being under-active), and to compensate, other chakras are over-active. The ideal state is where the chakras are balanced. To find out what the state of your chakras are, you can do a chakra test that I will include for you later....

There exists lots of techniques to balance the chakras. Mostly techniques to open chakras are used. It makes no difference to try to make over-active chakras less active, as they are compensating for other chakras. To restore the compensation, they'd be over-active again in no time. To stop them from compensating, the chakras they are compensating for must be opened. See the “techniques to open chakras” that will be included for you later as well.

Root Chakra – The base of your spine “Muldhara”

The Root chakra is red in colour and is associated with the earth and grounding, about being physically “there” and feeling at home in situations.

Sacral Chakra - Pelvic area “Svadhishthana”

The Sacral chakra is orange in colour and is the second energy centre from the base of your spine. The primary drive of this energy centre is pleasure.

Solar Plexus – At your navel area” Manipura”

This chakra is yellow in colour and this is your power centre, this is your “Core” self. It is where your will power and assertiveness originate.

Heart Chakra - “Anahata”

The Heart chakra is green in colour and is about unconditional love, compassion, kindness and affection.

Throat Chakra - “Vishuddha”

The Throat chakra is blue in colour and your voice of authenticity, creative self-expression and talking. It is the centre of communicating of your “own” truth.

Third Eye Chakra – "Ajna"

The Third Eye chakra is purple in colour and is found between your eye brows and up a few inches, in the centre of your forehead. It provides for spiritual reflection and insight. It allows you to experience clear thought and vision.

Crown Chakra – top of the head “Sahasrara”

The Crown chakra is a white-violet colour and is the seat of cosmic consciousness. It connects us to Divine intelligence and Divine grace. It's about wisdom and being one with the world.

This is just an overview for now. I will add on part of the Chakra test that I like to use. Take some time and really think about your answers. Mark them down and then see where your chakras are at presently. In the coming months, we will study each chakra separately and then learn techniques to open and balance them. I look forward to working with you on these wonderful energy centres. See you in November for “the Root chakra”.

Basic Chakra Test:

For the following questions think of a span of “Not at all” and then up to “Definitely”. These are just a few but it will give you an idea.

Are you able to extend an attitude of compassion to others and yourself easily?

Are you self-confident?

Do you feel connected to the universe and everything which is around you?

Are you aware of being the expression of something much bigger than yourself?

Do you have such a strong will that you always dominate situations?

Do you rely a lot on your intuition?

Do you see everything that happens to you as lessons for you to learn?
