The Vine Witch - a Book Review by Heather

The Vine Witch by Luanne G. Smith

The first book in a trilogy (the other books are The Glamourist and The Conjuror), in which we meet Elena, beginning with her escape from a seven-year curse of living as a toad.

She returns to the vineyard where she was brought up, to continue her work caring of the vines, protecting them from the curses and hexes from neighbouring vine witches, as well as to seek revenge on the person she believes cursed her.

As the story unfolds, in between battling poor harvests, gargoyles and demons, Elena discovers the truth to her past and her powers, learns forgiveness, falls in love with a mortal and forms a lasting friendship with a street witch, who later we discover is Oberon’s granddaughter, and a Jinn.

It is the power of their unlikely friendship, combining their magical powers which helps them become the women they are destined to be.
